FRESH, SEASONAL DOWNTOWN DINING

IN THE HEART OF THE UW CAMPUS

Steenbock’s on Orchard is located in The Wisconsin Institute for Discovery, a vibrant gathering place and research center, and a must-stop for those looking for lunch, an after-work glass of wine, or a stylish dinner in a world-class setting. Featuring sleek, modern decor, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a folding glass wall that opens to a covered, outdoor dining area, Steenbock’s is a one-of-a-kind destination. We happily accept reservations, and our dining room is a great spot for a quick and delicious business lunch, a happy hour with friends and co-workers, or a dinner date before a movie at Union South. The space includes a large bar with attached dining room, a second, separate dining room, and a small private room. The unique layout makes Steenbock’s a convivial yet intimate setting that appeals to locals, visitors, and business professionals; a great space for groups large and small. During warmer months, dine al fresco on our terrace—one of the only covered outdoor patios in the city.

LOCATED IN THE WISCONSIN INSTITUTE FOR DISCOVERY

An American contemporary menu

that highlights the season and the setting

Our menu is designed to feature local, regional, and seasonal ingredients at their best. Chef Sean Fogarty uses fresh, local, organic, and sustainably produced ingredients whenever possible to create seasonal lunch and dinner menus. Everything produced in the kitchen is made from scratch, with care—it’s a big part of how we offer guests the highest-quality, most flavorful meals every day.

Curated Wine & Beer Selection

to complement the cuisine

Our wine list features top American producers alongside Old World favorites, and all thirty bottles were thoughtfully selected to complement our seasonal menus. We have a broad selection of wine by the glass, and an extensive selection of draft and bottled beers as well.

Eat, Explore, Engage

and discover at the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery

The Wisconsin Institute for Discovery provides public space and two research institutes where campus and community members can immerse themselves in science and creativity. The Discovery Building is dedicated to helping the University of Wisconsin–Madison campus and the community explore new ways to conduct and share research and creative ideas. Steenbock’s diners have the unique opportunity to explore the state-of-the-art building before and after dinner, and Union South is conveniently located across the street from our restaurant.
